STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

Our strategic priorities

1. Promoting Possums: to ensure a viable service, to continue as a market

leader and to customise the service to be a good community fit.

  • Follow National Frameworks

  • Offer Enrichment Programs

  • Welcome wider community to committee meetings

  • Facilitate a continued online presence

  • Community advertising i.e. street signage bridge banners

  • Offer excursions into the community and identify as Possums Preschool

 

2.  Maintain Financial Security: being prepared for the unexpected, ensuring

the service remains of good quality, maintain our building and resources to a

high standard and keep service fees low.

  • Fundraising

  • Set buffer limits annually in bank accounts
  • Apply for grants when able
  • 3rd yearly budget forecasts that include building maintenance
  • Efficient fee collecting methods
  • Annual review of fee structure

 

3. Collaboration with Educators, Families and Community members: to

continue to meet the needs of staff and families of the service, connect with

the Tweed Shire Community and maintain relationship with Tweed Shire

Council as the asset owner of the Possums Preschool Building.

  • Family & staff get together early in the year to get to know each other

  • Parent / community notice boards

  • Monthly Staff meetings

  • Attend 3 community events each year and have Possums represent i.e. Banana Festival, Anzac Day, Kinship Festival

  • Review and meet Council at least annually to discuss our plan and licensing agreement

4. Ensure Excellence & Opportunity in Education: be responsive to individual children’s needs, offer inclusive Education and have fun play-based learning.

​

  • Review enrolment to be sure we are collecting relevant information on the child and their parents’ goals for Preschool

  • Offer staff professional development opportunities as they arise

  • Support children with additional needs

  • Ongoing consultation with parents and children to ensure we are meeting their educational goals
